HOW TO BUY TICKETS FOR THE ALHAMBRA ?
Since this is one of the questions we get asked the most, we have decided to make a small summary of the options available.
You should not leave the purchase to the last minute, it is almost obligatory to buy them in advance. In certain periods they sell out several weeks, even months in advance. All tickets are personal and non-transferable, so it is compulsory to carry an identity document to enter the monument, and they cannot be exchanged or refunded.
https://www.alhambra-patronato.es/ This is the official site for purchasing individual tickets to visit the monument without a guide or explanations. The ticket that allows access to the entire monumental complex: Nasrid Palaces, Generalife Gardens and Alcazaba, is the ‘ALHAMBRA GENERAL’. When purchasing it, it is necessary to select, among the available options, the time of access to the Nasrid Palaces. For the Generalife and the Alcazaba it is not necessary to select the time of visit.
Please note:
If you choose a discounted ticket for children or people over 65 years of age from the European Union, it is necessary to go to the ticket office to collect them.
If you do not enter the Nasrid Palaces at the indicated time, you will lose your right of access.
In total we recommend a minimum of two and a half hours for the visit. This does not include the visit to the Palace of Charles V and the Museum of Fine Arts, which are located within the complex, but for which it is not necessary to purchase a ticket.
In the night visits you do not visit the whole Alhambra, you have to choose between the Nasrid Palaces or the Alcazaba, we recommend them as complementary visits.
complementary visits.
If you prefer to visit the Alhambra accompanied by an official guide who will explain the history and secrets of the monumental complex, there are two options.
- Tickets for a regular guided tour in a group. The price varies between 50-60€ per person depending on availability, language and group size. Groups can be up to 30 people, but for a slightly higher price it is possible to join a small group of 15 people.
- Visit the Alhambra with a private guide who will adapt to your schedule, preferences and interests. The service of a private guide ranges from €130 – €170 per group, entrance fees not included, depending on the date and language, for a visit of approximately two and a half hours.
Our advice, especially if it is your first visit to the Alhambra and maybe the only one, is to choose one of the guided options because it is not the same to walk around the monument as to immerse yourself in its history and that of Granada.
